thinking about the how we are dependent on technology. I spend hours on the computer when there is nothing else to do.

Mechanical Beetle

Gouache

11.5x8.5

A green beetle with mechanical parts. I was going to add more mechanical parts, but it would have lost most of  the green color. I used Masonite board with an under painting of blue acrylic.

Beach Obituary

Beach Obituary

Graphite

8x10

I picked a random obituary and design according to the individuals description. This individual enjoyed going to the beach to surf and happen to be a life guard too. Every object does represent what the individual enjoyed doing. After doing multiple sketches this seemed to work the best.

La Luna Negra

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to work in a restaurant as a painter. It was a fun experience, being able to sand, prime, and paint on tables. I just loved the idea of having your work on display permanently for everyone to see. It was a big job too, I had my friend (mentor, and artist too) helped me out. It was a total of 32 tables. We completed 16 tables on the first run, in 10 hours. Unfortunately, due to school I had to let my friend finish the other 16 tables. I only included a few photos of the work and how it looks in the restaurant. Drop by if your in the Arcadia area  http://lalunanegrarestaurant.com/

Mechanical Batman I

Mechanical Batman I

2.5x3.5

Ink

My attempt at drawing a mechanical Batman. It turn out to look more like a cat than a bat, probably because of the ears. I should have made them longer. I'll be drawing another mechanical batman, see if that one turns out better.

Megatron and Optimus

Megatron and Optimus Prime

Watercolor

I can't wait for the new Transformers movie and what better way to celebrate then by drawing both Megatron and Optimus. I decided to make these into one art piece, since you can't have a hero without a villain. Originally, I was going to used makers but watercolor is more fun to work with.

Yuko Suzuhana

Graphite

This is a drawing of vocalist Yuko Suzuhana from Wagakki Band. It's a rock band that uses classical Japanese instruments in combination with standard rock instruments. I really love the sound of this band. You can check out there video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_xTet06SUo

Sailor Moon

"Fighting evil by moon light, winning love by day light." I can't believe I remember those lyrics to the intro song of Sailor Moon. Then again I never miss the show, one of the few anime shows I grew up on. I know it was show for girls, but there was something special about this one. Until, this day I only watched season 1 and 2.

Now on Sale

These are the ACEO's now available on eBay. The link to eBay will always be on right of my blog. However, here it is, my eBay shop. All done with watercolor.

Tribute To V

New ACEO (trading card) for sale. A small tribute to V from V for Vendetta. Yes, I saw this film a few weeks ago. Took me long enough. This film made me want to start a revolution, an art revolution that is. Plus, that is the feeling I wanted to go with, since it's the main theme of the film. Will be up for the next 7 days.

Mechanical Monster

A new item is for sale on e-bay, that of course means that the previous sale has ended. However, this new item will be, on the bigger perspective of things, new design for my Mechanical Eden. An environment that developed from one of my 16x20 pieces I did in 2011 for an art show. Well, like the last sale, I only made a limited run of this lino block, like it should be, of 25.

Now on Etsy

I have been busy with work, but you can now buy my trade mark digital prints on Japanese Rice Paper on Etsy.com. Also, there is only 3 days left on my current sale on e-bay for one of my original ACEO lino block prints. It's a good deal really, and it's a limited run too. After, this sell I will be moving on to the next item for sale.

Lino Block Print's in The Works

I have been making prints during my free time. I didn't touch any of my lino blocks until recently. Since I now know the fundamentals for doing a limited run of prints. My work will be available for sale on e-bay once I'm done with all the prints. So stay tune for that. In the time being check the photos below of the prints I have been working on. If you want information on a piece and what it symbolizes leave me a comment. I'll gladly answer.

Mechanical Eden Redraw

I decided to redraw one of my art pieces digitally, but nothing beats the original. Although, redrawing the image digitally gave me the advantage, that I was able to draw perfect lines. It is very difficult to draw straight and circular lines by hand. I'm very happy with this turn out.

Original (sorry for the poor quality photo)

Funny Expressions

Here is the latest e-bay auction for ACEO's. Did I mention it's a set of 5. It was done with a water brush and ink. and like always, the auction lasts for 7 days. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACEO-Original-Drawing-Funny-Expressions-By-JJCruz-/181049445291?pt=Art_Drawings&hash=item2a27634bab *this auction has ended.

Welcome To LA

My first ACEO lithograph called "Welcome To LA". Now to test some prints and figure how many to actually print. This piece has to do with the air pollution in LA, because of it's geographical location, the pollution just can't go anywhere. It basically locked in. That's why I did the gas mask, which I think people should wear in LA. The building behind the mask is LA's City Hall. At least part of it.

Tea Time

I finally finish my Tea Time piece. This was originally a piece for a flyer about tea and calligraphy, but the event got cancelled. However, I decided to finish it. It's hand drawn. Since this was a design for a flyer that explains the layout.

Tea Time

9x12 Marker Paper

 Pen & Ink

Lion, Ocelot, & Sitatunga

Here are some animals I drew using a calligraphy pen. Although, I think I should be more loose when using the calligraphy pen. I still tend on wanting to use it as a regular pen, and that's a big no no.

The King, The Queen, & The Witch

This is what I had more in mind when using gold or silver pen. It's simple yet has an elegant look. The difficult part was drawing the squares in the background.
