Beach Obituary

Beach Obituary
Graphite
8x10
I picked a random obituary and design according to the individuals description. This individual enjoyed going to the beach to surf and happen to be a life guard too. Every object does represent what the individual enjoyed doing. After doing multiple sketches this seemed to work the best.

This is a drawing of vocalist Yuko Suzuhana from Wagakki Band. It's a rock band that uses classical Japanese instruments in combination with standard rock instruments. I really love the sound of this band. You can check out there video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_xTet06SUo

Another character played by Mexican comedian Eugenio Derbez. Just look up "Instructions Not Included" and you will know who I am talking about. He used to have a popular show in the late 90's.

Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon Cosplayer
2.5x3.5
Ink
"Fighting evil by moon light, winning love by day light." I can't believe I remember those lyrics to the intro song of Sailor Moon. Then again I never miss the show, one of the few anime shows I grew up on. I know it was show for girls, but there was something special about this one. Until, this day I only watched season 1 and 2.

Instagram

I have been spending time on instagram lately. It's amazing how many artist are using the social app to promote their art work and website or blog. The best part, it actually works. However, what impressed me the most is 14 year old artists that make better art pieces then other artist I know that attend art institutions, including myself. I'm truly surprised by this. although, I am a bit jealous that 14 year old's do better work then me. It inspires me to work harder as an artist and learn to manage my time more wisely. After all, I do want to make a living as an artist. You can also follow me on instagram under the name digitalowl

Hand sketches

I was sketching hands, until I realized I had other art projects to finish. Plus job hunting also takes time. One major thing I do need is Adobe Flash to begin my animation career. But first things first. I will finish the last symmetric piece for my buddy, before I begin my portfolio in character design. I will leave you with this images of hand sketches. Good day.

New ACEO's (Art Cards, Editions and Originals)

This will be the ACEO's I will be selling soon on e-bay. I need to write a brief  description of the art pieces first. That way, when I sell on e-bay, I can simply copy and paste rather then writing on the spot. It is always better to be prepared before hand. The first 3 images is old work I did in college 3 or 2 years ago in illustration class. I decided to turn that work into Art Cards, Edition and Originals. Now, the last image is some thing new I will be doing. It will be along the lines of entertainment design and story boarding in ACEO format. I am going for that sketchy look, but I will try to keep it clean. That was my first attempt. Anyway, feel free to click on the images

Tomb Raider Contest

This is the piece I entered to a Tomb Raider contest on deviantart. Simple, yet stylish. A bit off from what I had in mind for the background.

Sketches

Here are sketches of my art pieces that will be in the 8-Bit show. As you can see it is a messy process of capturing my thoughts or ideas onto paper. I have to work quickly, otherwise I might lose that image in my head. After that I just clean the sketch on Photoshop. This is also the same process I use when I design a character, I keep on developing ideas or improving the character before I decide on a final piece. Although some people tell me to slow down on my sketching.

Night Watcher

My attempt at drawing and painting digitally again. I haven't done this in a while, so I hope you can cut me some slack. I was going for a cell shaded animation look. If you have any tip for improving my coloring digital skills I will grandly appreciate it. =)

Space Suit

I originally had in mind in doing a humanoid robot, but it ended up as a space suit. Anyway, this is more of a design than an illustration. I did the inking on Velum and place a white sheet of paper behind when I scan the image.

Tea Time

I finally finish my Tea Time piece. This was originally a piece for a flyer about tea and calligraphy, but the event got cancelled. However, I decided to finish it. It's hand drawn. Since this was a design for a flyer that explains the layout.

Mask and Patterns

Working with mask's and patterns. I like the turn out for the first and third drawing, because of the contrast. Second drawing seems to be blending in with the color of the card stock. Oh well.

Lion, Ocelot, & Sitatunga

Here are some animals I drew using a calligraphy pen. Although, I think I should be more loose when using the calligraphy pen. I still tend on wanting to use it as a regular pen, and that's a big no no.

The King, The Queen, & The Witch

This is what I had more in mind when using gold or silver pen. It's simple yet has an elegant look. The difficult part was drawing the squares in the background.

Life, Death, & The After Life

These 3 art pieces were done for the show "Life, Death, and The After Life." It was the last show I was in 2011. The work was very tenacious. Sorry for the sucky photos.

Rob's Story

This is the first and last time I use white charcoal to do an illustration. It was difficult to do small details with charcoal. Especially, when your working on a 2.5"x3.5" card stock. I'll just stick to ink.
